Insight Horizons in the Public Sector
The Insight Horizons workshop modules and tools were originally developed for research, insight and data teams within commercial organisations. However, they work equally well for public sector organisations.
The fundamental premise of Insight Horizons is that most organisations do not optimise the value of their "knowledge" specialists and expert professions. These teams have technique-based knowledge which the organisation can benefit from in the development, implementation and evaluation of its policy and marketing strategies. However, this expertise is rarely utilised as effectively as it could and should be, practitioners are not central to the organisation's strategic decision making and the knowledge is not disseminated as widely as it should be both within the organisation and to stakeholders.
Our experience has shown that the responsibility for communicating expert knowledge to an organisation rests with the specialists and "knowledge" holders. They have to reach out to their stakeholders, internal and external, with knowledge products that are recognisably valuable and actionable. All specialist teams have limited resources to invest in the communication area of their role, so it is vital that key audiences are identified where specialist expertise and knowledge can have the greatest value and impact.
Our Insight Horizon tools take workshop attendees through a structured process to develop their own stakeholder engagement strategy and identify content, media and channels for engagement and communication.
